FRIENDS OF THE POOR® WALK
91 year old St. Vincent de Paul volunteer to Walk A Mile. Bride and Groom to Walk on Wedding Day SAN DIEGO, CA
Tom Kobayashi--the longest serving Vincentian in the Western US and possibly the nation at 71 years--will be coming to the Seattle Walk and has committed to walking a mile.
Melissa Sanders and Andrew Morrison of
City hall is advertising the event for us. Some members of the fire department
and city council will be walking with us. local Catholic youth groups from St. Mary's, St. John's. Resurrection, and
various Boys and Girl scouts troups. A local Charter high school is walking and
helping to prepare a 'history' info booth about the Society. The 'Legion of
Mary' will pray the rosary as they walk. Many priests, deacons, and possibly
Bishop Salvatore Cordeleone from the Diocese of San Diego will walk. We had a banner made which will go up for two weeks across the city street in
front of the park which advertises the walk.
We have a troupe of 30 Polynesian dancers with professional
musicians performing during the entire event to keep people around. SAN FRANCISCO, CA

SVDP San Francisco has been selected by the San Francisco Examiner newspaper as
one of the good people and good works on its daily Kudos page. The Examiner
spotlights residents who are serving their community, reaching milestones,
making discoveries and celebrating accomplishments. According to KATHERINE, “The
Friends of the Poor Walk is a way for us to come together ... and to raise the
profile of our work across The City.”
Katherine’s occupation is Director, support services organizing
the annual fundraiser for the group, which helps the needy. The Friends of the Poor Walk in
